If you’re a die-hard Abby Jimenez fan like I am, then hey—welcome to the club! This year, I flew through the Yours Truly and Friend Zone series, and honestly? Pure five-star perfection. Abby just gets it—her books always leave me smiling, swooning, and occasionally sobbing (in the best way). So after falling in love with Life’s Too Short, I was super excited to pick up Say You’ll Remember Me. But I’ve gotta admit… this one didn’t quite hit the same for me.
Main Characters in Say You’ll Remember Me
- Samantha
- Xavier
Publisher’s Summary
There’s no such thing as a perfect guy, but Xavier Rush comes disastrously close. A gorgeous veterinarian giving Greek god vibes—all while cuddling a tiny kitten? Immediate yes. That is until Xavier opens his mouth and proves that even sculpted gods can say the absolute wrong thing. Like, really wrong. Of course, there’s nothing Samantha loves more than proving an asshole wrong . . . unless, of course, he can admit he made a mistake.
But after one incredible and seemingly endless date, Samantha is forced to admit the truth, that her family is in crisis and any kind of relationship would be impossible. Samantha begs Xavier to forget her. To remember their night together as a perfect moment, as crushing as that may be. Only no amount of distance or time is enough to forget what’s between them. And the only thing better than one single perfect memory is to make a life—and even a love—worth remembering.

Book Review: Say You’ll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez
I’m SO torn on this rating! 😩 While I enjoyed this book, it didn’t hit as hard as The Friend Zone or Just for the Summer.
On any given day, this could be a 3–4 star read for me, but I’m leaning toward a 3 because I’ve rated other Abby books higher. The first half had me hooked—despite the insta-love trope, I was invested, and the opening was strong! But around the halfway point, things started feeling repetitive, and some plot points (like the TikTok scene) felt eh.
As I said, I came off reading Life’s Too Short to Say You’ll Remember Me. What I didn’t like here was how instantly the characters connected—he was supposed to be “grumpy sunshine,” but their dynamic felt too easy. I also wish her mother’s dementia had been developed more, maybe with a heartbreaking “I remember you” moment rather than just the family trying to manage her condition.
This leans more toward women’s fiction with romance rather than a full-fledged romance novel. The emotional depth and themes were powerful, but the insta-love trope didn’t fully work for me.
Still, I love Abby’s writing and recommend it! It’s just not the first book of hers I’d suggest grabbing.
